How To Quit Smoking - What Is A Look At Smoking Control

I never thought I would be able to stop my smoking addiction. It seemed like I was always waiting until the pressure in my life was at a minimum to begin to quit and of course that just never seemed to happen. I used my smoking as a stress reliever and I just didn't know what to compensate it with. I was hesitant of gaining weight and it seemed like every time I stopped smoking or even attempted smoking control, I replaced my smoking with eating and as soon as I saw a weight gain over five pound I was once again smoking.
It wasn't effortless but I started some smoking control by replacing additional activities and habits for times when I would usually smoke. When I decided that I had to break the smoking habit I started with a list of pros and cons for my determination to smoke or to stop. In other words what I was getting out of smoking and then the cons to keeping my smoking habit. Of course the pros far outweighed the cons. The financial and health costs of a smoking habit makes the decision to continue on one you cant really explain in any sense except for the fact that as a smoker this is a habit that you savor.
After I made my list I hung this list up on my bathroom mirror and also on my refrigerator door. I wanted each day to see my reasons for changing my behavior this helped quite since quitting smoking is a decision one has to renew day by day. If you stop smoking you have to foresee there will be times when you will slip but in the times past that I backslid, I just accepted failure and started smoking full steam ahead. This time if I backslid and bought a pack of cigarettes or smoked one I begged from a friend I allowed myself forgiveness for not being perfect and started right back up.
If I saw the bathroom scales go up I made sure to go to the gym more and not to replace eating with smoking. I also rewarded myself by pampering myself with anything I in most cases wouldn't do for myself. When I pay attention to careful smoking control my cigarette use always goes down. I will not say that I don't think about smoking occasionally and very likely always will but I always prompt myself that what you save is both health and money. Your clothes don't smell like smoke your hair doesn't reek of smoke and you can better enjoy the food you eat. You can also put the cash you would have used for buying smokes into a bank account and watch it grow.
